Terms of Service
Veilero provides informational reports summarizing publicly available data about a U.S. residential property and its surrounding area. By accessing veilero.com or purchasing a report, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. The company is [legal entity name] ("Veilero," "we," "us").
1What Veilero is
Veilero organizes publicly available data about a property and its surroundings into risk categories and plain-language explanations. It is a research and awareness tool, not a decision-maker.
2Informational only — no guarantee, no advice, no reliance
Veilero reports are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not a guarantee that any property is safe, habitable, or a good or bad purchase; not professional advice of any kind (legal, financial, real estate, insurance, environmental, engineering, or medical); and not a substitute for a professional home inspection, title search, survey, environmental assessment, appraisal, or any inspection required by law or lender.
You are solely responsible for your own decisions, and before buying, selling, insuring, or otherwise acting on any property you should obtain independent professional inspections and advice. We do not recommend or advise for or against any transaction. You acknowledge that you are not relying on any Veilero report as the basis for any purchase, financial, or safety decision, and that you assume all risk arising from your use of the reports and data.
3Data sources and accuracy
Veilero compiles information from government agencies and other third-party sources (for example EPA, FEMA, USGS, NRC, USDA, and public registries). This data may be incomplete, outdated, mislocated, or inaccurate, and coverage varies by location. All reports are provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not independently verify third-party data and are not responsible for errors in it.
4Not a consumer report — FCRA
Veilero is not a consumer reporting agency, and Veilero reports are not "consumer reports" under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or any comparable state law. You may not use any Veilero report as a factor in: tenant screening or any housing decision about a person; credit, loan, or insurance eligibility, underwriting, or pricing; employment decisions; or any other purpose covered by the FCRA. By using the service you represent that you will not use any report for an FCRA-covered purpose. Reports describe properties and areas, not individuals' creditworthiness or character.
5Crime, registered-offender, and public-registry information
Certain reports include crime statistics and registered-offender information drawn from third-party providers that aggregate publicly available government registries (including the U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) and individual state and local registries). This is presented for general awareness of an area only; it may be incomplete, out of date, mislocated, or contain errors, and any corrections must be made at the original government source.
You agree that you will not:
- use this information to identify, locate, contact, threaten, harass, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against, or harm any individual;
- use it as a factor in any tenant-screening, employment, credit, insurance, or other FCRA-governed decision; or
- copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute the underlying crime or registry data.
Many federal and state laws restrict the use of registry information; you are solely responsible for your compliance, and you use this information at your own risk. If you believe crime or registered-offender information shown in a report is inaccurate or outdated, note that it originates from government registries and any correction must be made at the official source; you may also contact hello@veilero.com to request a review.
6Acceptable use
You agree not to use Veilero to stalk, harass, threaten, or harm any person; violate any law; scrape, resell, or redistribute reports or data except as permitted; or interfere with the service's operation or security. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
7Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Veilero or purchase a report. The service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18.
8Purchases, pricing, and delivery
Reports are sold on a per-report basis at the prices shown at checkout, processed by our payment provider (Stripe). On successful payment you receive access to the purchased report for the associated address, plus a re-access link sent to the email you provide. Prices and features may change. Refund policy: [state your policy — e.g. "all sales are final except where required by law"].
9Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Veilero and its owners, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your reliance on any report or data. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service or a report will not exceed the amount you paid for the report giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Veilero from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your reliance on any report, or your violation of these Terms or any law.
11Disclaimer of warranties
The service and all reports are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12Dispute resolution — arbitration & class-action waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and Veilero agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, and that you and Veilero each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in any class or representative action. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing hello@veilero.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. This section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
